Become a Volunteer

Description of volunteer responsibilities:

The alumni volunteer will be the high school contact for Dickinson State University. One-to-one relationships will encourage prospective students to apply to Dickinson State and, most importantly, will improve the probability that quality admitted students will enroll. You will be able to provide a friendly informational link with your high school

  • Commit approximately 10 - 15 hours between October and May.
  • Attend orientation and training sessions.
  • Contact the counselors at your assigned high school to introduce yourself and leave your name for students who request additional information from the alumni viewpoint.
  • Refer names and information of prospective students to the University.
  • Provide prospective students with information that is factual and/or based on your personal experience. Always separate your own opinion from fact.
  • Deliver certificates to recipients of Dickinson State University scholarships. The certificates will be prepared and available from the Office of Enrollment Services.
  • Telephone or write congratulations to students admitted to Dickinson State.
  • Assist with area receptions.
  • Appear on presentation panels at Preview Day programs and during summer orientation.
