The Department of Natural Sciences prepares students for careers in a changing world and enables them to lead more fulfilling lives.  Almost boundless opportunities are open with a wide variety of occupations to students who graduate with a major or a minor in science. Science majors or minors may be employed as sales or technical representatives for chemical equipment and pharmaceutical companies, as well as water purification companies. Both industrial and government opportunities are available for the graduate with a chemistry major. Science students who would like to become chemistry or biology teachers earn certification to teach in their chosen fields in grades seven through 12.

Studies in biology or chemistry will provide students with a working knowledge of important principles which will best prepare them for teaching careers; for graduate work in their chosen fields; or for advancement in a scientific career in allied health fields, government, or industry.

Each student is taught the principles of problem solving.  Problems may exist in such wide ranging areas as biological chemistry to superconductivity, but the students who major or minor in the Department of Natural Sciences are well equipped to face the future.
