Isbell, Bracken, and Visser Named Team Captains for 2009 Season
October-13-08

Seniors Tony Isbell and Bryan Visser and junior Nolan Bracken have been named team captains for the 2009 season by their teammates. Isbell is a designated hitter/pitcher, Bracken is an outfielder, and Visser is a pitcher for the Blue Hawks.

Isbell enjoyed a standout year for DSU during 2008. He was the only player in the DAC to be named an NAIA All-American. He was named at designated hitter after posting a .370 average with 12 homers, 11 doubles, and a DSU single season record 74 RBI. He also pitched in 62.0 innings, posting a 3-6 record with an ERA of 6.10. Teams hit just .229 off Isbell.

Bracken has started nearly every game for the Hawks during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was named 1st team All DAC after leading the league in hitting during conference play with a .481 average. He was second on the team with a .385 average on the season. Bracken was named a DAC Scholar Athlete during both the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Visser was a mainstay on the mound for the Blue Hawks in 2008. He started nine games on the mound, finishing with a 3-0 record with one shutout and an ERA of 6.97. He registered 37 K’s and 17 walks in 50.1 innings of work. Visser was named a DAC Scholar Athlete during the 2008 season.

"The team did a real nice job in picking this year's captains," says head coach Duane Monlux. "This group works very hard and they've shown real solid leadership qualities. They are guys that get the job done both on the field and in the classroom."
