Who qualifies for the DSU license plate?
- Everyone (alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and family members of students) with Blue Hawk pride that owns or leases a vehicle registered in North Dakota that is less than ten thousand pounds gross vehicle weight.
- Not available for motorcycles or commercial vehicles.
Spirit and Support!
- The DSU plates cost $25 annually in addition to the standard registration fee. Of this money, $15 annually will go to the Dickinson State University Foundation for student scholarships!
When will the DSU plate be available?
- The North Dakota Department of Motor Vehicle will begin the production of the official DSU license plate as soon as the minimum 50 plates are reserved. Every plate ordered gets us closer to the goal of 50!
Why should I order my plate now?
- Your order is essential to meeting the 50 plate minimum order. Once this number is met we will be able to ride in style with Blue Hawk pride!
How do I order my DSU license plate?
- Fill out the North Dakota Department of Motor Vehicle “Application for Organizational Plate” form along with a $25 payment
to DSU Foundation.

- The Alumni and Foundation will issue you a receipt and thank you for your participation.
- Once the 50 minimum applications have been met, we will notify you via mail that the applications have been processed to North Dakota Department of Motor Vehicle.
- Receive your new DSU license plate in the mail, place them on your vehicle and cruise around town to show off your DSU pride!
How do I renew my DSU license plate?
- Just like you renew your license plate with the Department of Motor Vehicle. Nothing is different other than the annual fee of $25 for the DSU plate.
Can I personalize my DSU plate?
- Yes you can!!!
- There will be an additional $25 annual cost for this feature and a maximum number of five characters.*

* In addition to the $25 annual fee for the DSU license plate, you are responsible for the personalized plate fee of $25 annually (if applicable) and any fees associated with the yearly registration of your vehicle
